Program in Real Estate
The Program in Real Estate at CSUF is designed for students who are principally interested in careers in the real estate industry. It provides the student with both general and specialized real estate knowledge that is applicable to professional areas such as real estate finance and investment, brokerage, market analysis, and appraisal as well as being pertinent to the acquisition, development, management, and disposition of real property.The program provides the analytical, communication and interpersonal skills to make decisions about real estate assets under conditions of risk and uncertainty. The student will be able to apply the acquired knowledge to specific real estate issues in a wide variety of corporate, entrepreneurial, and personal situations.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM - Course Requirements
The Program in Real Estate is offered under the sponsorship of the Department of Finance. All students in the Department must complete the following 6 unit Finance Core Requirement:

Finance 332 Theory of Corporate Finance (3), and
Finance 340 Introduction to Investments (3) OR
Finance 342 Capital and Money Markets (3)

In addition to the Finance Core Requirement, students in the Program in Real Estate must complete Finance 351 - Introduction to Real Estate (3), and at least 9 additional units from the following Real Estate Advisory Track:

Finance 353 Real Estate Valuation (3)
Finance 355 Real Estate Investment Analysis (3)
Finance 454 Real Estate Market Analysis (3)
Finance 456 Property Development and Management (3)

Note: To be eligible to sit for the California Real Estate Broker License Examination, students must have completed eight college-level courses in addition to the meeting the experience/educational requirements. Five of the courses are required, including: Real Estate Practice (not offered at CSUF); Legal Aspects of Real Estate (not offered at CSUF); Real Estate Finance (Finance 352); Real Estate Appraisal (Finance 353); and Real Estate Economics (Finance 454). In lieu of Real Estate Economics, the student may complete Economics 201, 202 or 361 or Accounting 201A or 201B. In addition to the five required courses, the student is required to complete three courses from a long list of electives including the following courses offered at CSUF: Real Estate Principles (Finance 351); Advanced Real Estate Finance (Finance 355); Advanced Real Estate Appraisal (Finance 551); and Business Law (Management 246). * Students with an interest in real estate are strongly encouraged to complete FIN 320 and FIN 351 no later than their junior year.

GRADUATE PROGRAM- Course Offered

Department of Finance offers a real estate class at the graduate level as part of the integrated MBA program.
